well...you owe me nothing. the world doesn't owe me anything. the city doesn't owe me anything. the federal government...well...they owe everybody. but i'm not entitled to any of it. seriously....the homeless aren't entitled to anything. they are owed nothing. by all rights they should receive nothing they didn't work for.
now you didn't really think i was going to stop at that did you? you don't owe us anything. but we owe everyone a debt of gratitude. without different organizations and individuals we'd go hungry. we would sleep outside. we would walk around in depression era clothes. we wouldn't be able to look for a job. we couldn't get out of the weather on cold rainy days. we wouldn't have any insurance so many of us would be sick and some would die. when you help us you offer us hope and a chance to bring ourselves out of the homeless situation and all the darkness that comes with it. you offer us a lifeline back to being normal. whether or not we take it is up to us. but it's there. without you we would feel forgotten. we would feel alone and abandoned. our days and nights would be filled with simple survival and alot of fear and anxiety. we wouldn't have time to plan toward working and having our own roof over our head. we'd have little if any kindness in our life. smiles would be few and far between. but more than any of that, we would not be able to feel like we're still a person. we would not be able to cope with the hardships that come with being homeless in today's world.
so you see.....you owe me nothing. i owe you. thank you
